The Statistics To Understanding Pedestrian-Automobile Safety

Updated: Feb 3, 2022

What if I told you that could be possible for a water bottle to save lives? Well, it’s not an unreasonably hypothetical question.

NyteLyte is an illuminating LED water bottle, meant to hydrate during the day though and illuminate your way to protection at night. I think we all can agree that it’s important to look out for pedestrians while driving. But not only do automobile drivers have the responsibility to look for pedestrians, we as pedestrians also have a responsibility to look after ourselves and ensure we are taking the proper safety precautions to avoid injury and/or death.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), pedestrian deaths accounted for a whopping total of over 6,000 unfortunate deaths and 76,000 injuries in 2019. Pedestrian safety is extremely important because at some point every day, every single person globally is at risk for this accident. According to these numbers and the NHTSA, that means that a pedestrian was killed roughly every hour in the year 2019.

There has been a marked increase in the number of pedestrian deaths and injuries in recent years, as well as a general trend toward higher rates of fatal crashes at night. This has prompted the introduction of safety regulations for consumers, such as anti-rollback legislation intended to improve vehicle visibility during foggy and rainy conditions.

Even through the rising years with COVID-19 leading to a decreased amount of street traffic and commuter routes, the pedestrian death rate has continued to increase and become a concerning problem. In 2021, there were over 6,000 deaths related to pedestrian-involved automobile collisions.

Our company has focused on developing an engineered design solution for this problem, as well as working to continue our community involvement to increase street safety for both automobiles and pedestrians. We continue to monitor the news, track the NHTSA, and work to increase the opportunities for individuals to choose a safety gear item that suits their needs.

NyteLyte in particular has executed a carry-top reusable water bottle that has LED illumination through three different light setting options. This bottle is meant to hydrate during the day and protect at night by illuminating the way around you. Whether you need assistance seeing or you're trying to alert automobiles of your presence, the NyteLyte is here to protect you.
